On main street just to the left of the sign was the entrance to one of the oldest eating establishments I've every dined at, the Griswold Inn. I was surprised how small it was but then since it's been in operation since 1776, yes that's right 1776, why wouldn't it be small.
The center bar area has a small pot belly stove with tables and chairs all around it. We dined in the dining area just in back of the bar. The hostess seated us by the large black fireplace. The room was decorated with pine boughs and poinsettias. So festive.
We just had to eat authentic New England clam chowder and fish and chips. Yum!

Looks delish! What a cool thing to be in a building that old.
